Soweto has the highest number of active COVID-19 cases in Gauteng. Premier David Makhura says resources will be directed to the area to ensure regulations are followed.

South Africa has recorded a total of 538,184 active cases. The majority of the new cases are from Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.
