The World Health Organisation has applauded South Africa for its response in the fight against COVID-19. WHO Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is in the country for the first time. He is on a two-day visit stopping at various vaccine-related sites around Cape Town.
Ghebreyesus also says South Africa’s cutting-edge COVID-19 variant detection should be praised.
He says placing travel bans and other restrictions on South Africa after its detection of Omicron was unfair.
