COVID-19: SA cases rise to 9420, death toll at 186

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 infections in South Africa on Saturday increased to 9,420, with eight new deaths, Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize has announced.

Mkhize made the announcement during a media briefing in the Western Cape. The number of deaths has also increased to 186.

The number seems to be increasing every day and that a more reason to stay home and follow all government’s directives to avoid the spread of the coronavirus.

Over 250 police officers have also tested positive for COVID-19 in South Africa. The police minister says the pandemic is straining the already stretched resources of the police service. He said that in the Western Cape, 176 officers are now infected with COVID-19.nThe South African Police Service is equally concerned with the rising numbers of police officers who are infected with COVID-19 virus,” said Cele.

The new coronavirus can persist in men’s semen even after they have begun to recover, a finding that raises the possibility the virus could be s.e.xually transmitted, Chinese researchers said Thursday.
