Robben Island Museum proud of World Travel Awards nomination

The Robben Island Museum (RIM) says it was proud of its nomination in the Leading Tourist Attraction category in the 30th annual World Travel Awards.

The World Travel Awards is one of the most highly regarded awards in the travel and tourism industry.

Public voting closes Sunday and Capetonians were urged to have their say.

RIM CEO Abigail Thulare said the award would go a long way to ensure that the multi-layered history of the island, which dates back to the early 1300s, remained relevant for generations to come.

“RIM is so much more than a tourist destination. As we prepare to celebrate Freedom Day, RIM stands as a bastion of all that should be remembered in the liberation struggle for the freedom that we all enjoy today.”

The Mother City is nominated in 9 categories in 2023.
