Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer leaves the club

Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer is leaving the club. In a statement, the club said Zinnbauer is leaving due to family reasons. Zinnbauer leaves at the back of an emphatic win against arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs.

Please understand, it’s family that’s very, very close to me and me and the family, we speak about it not in the official [way], I’m sorry about this. I hope you understand it,” said Zinnbauer very briefly in his post-match press conference.

Whether the 50-year-old tactician will be returning is as yet confirmed, with no further details available regarding his departure, while assistant coach Fadlu Davids is expected to take the interim reigns.

Having joined Pirates back in December as a successor to the former assistant and interim coach Rhulani Mokwena, the former Hamburger mentor leaves after just 22 matches, with his overall record reading 12 wins, seven draws and three defeats.
