The trial against former Nelson Mandela Bay councillor Andile Lungisa is set to begin on Thursday in the Motherwell magistrate’s court.
Lungisa faces charges of contravening lockdown regulations after he allegedly convened an illegal gathering in July this year.
The National Prosecuting Authority has accused him of illegally gathering about 30 people. The country was placed under Alert Level 4 lockdown at the time.
