At 22H38 Friday night Netcare 911 responded to reports of a collision on Christiaan de Wet Road in Kloofendaal Ext 3, Roodepoort.
Reports from the scene indicate that the driver of a light motor vehicle lost control on the s bends crashing into the Armco barrier.
When paramedics assessed the scene they found that the Armco barrier had penetrated straight through the vehicle, trapping the passenger in the process.
The driver of the car a 19-year-old male was ejected and found some distance away from the vehicle between the bush and a river.
Rescue crews had to use the Jaws of Life to free the 20-year-old passenger who was trapped in the vehicle.
Once extricated, the passenger and driver were transported by ambulance under the care of an Advanced life support paramedic to hospital for further treatment.
