One-hundred and thirty-four suspected infections have been tested in the province, and only three have tested positive for COVID-19.

The Western Cape treasury has made provision for unanticipated events and stands ready to assist the health department with containing the coronavirus.

One-hundred and thirty-four suspected infections have been tested in the province, and only three have tested positive for COVID-19.

All those patients contracted the virus in Europe.

MEC David Maynier is optimistic about the province’s response to the Coronavirus outbreak.

He says the provincial treasury is ready to assist.

“Our provincial health department has a plan and is working closely with the national department of health, and the National Institute for Communicable Diseases. Our provincial health department is prepared.”

He says while many are concerned about the impact on daily life and the economy, the provincial government will do all it can to mitigate the risks.
