Hawks and RTMC bust Mpumalanga vehicle licencing fraud ring

The Road Traffic Management Corporation and the Hawks have bust an alleged multi-million rand vehicle licencing fraud ring in Mpumalanga.

Five provincial administrators and a municipal clerk in Mbombela are alleged to have fraudulently redetermined the classification of hundreds of vehicles to avoid paying licencing fees and penalties.

The RTMC estimates that close to R60-million has been lost in revenue.

The suspects are expected to be charged with fraud, corruption, and money laundering.

The alleged crimes are believed to have been committed between 2018 and 2019.

The hotel, called 12 on Hillel Villa and Spa in Northcliff, Johannesburg, is allegedly owned by Kganyago’s husband, Thami Ndlala, and two other business people who are said to be silent partners. Learn More
