Residents of Kanonberg Estate and Oude Westhof are being evacuated due to a vegetation fire on Tygerberg Hills.
The cause of the blaze that erupted on Thursday morning has not yet been established.
Fire and Rescue’s Jermaine Carelse said the fire was not yet under control.
“There are 20 firefighting resources on scene, including 4×4 vehicles as the terrain is mostly gravel with steep gradients. Two choppers will continue to waterbomb the area. A few firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion but no injuries have been reported.”
