Former SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns star Mpho Lerato Chabangu is topping trends after he opened up about his woes. Over the years, he has made many headlines after disappearing from the public spotlight.
With an illustrious career spanning years, Chabangu was dubbed one of the best right-wingers in the league, and his unmatched flair made him stand above the rest. During the peak of his career, he was one of the highest-paid players, earning a fortune. However, he blew all his millions in the wake of his fame and is now down and out.
In a recent interview, he revealed that he has been hustling to make ends meet. He left Mzansi in tears after he made it known that he lost everything and had nothing left. The star now lives at his family’s home. Lerato Chabangu made it known that he blew his millions on women, alcohol and cars, and now he is left with nothing.
During his recent interview, he said: “I blew all my money on useless things because I was always guaranteed a salary the following month. I used to afford expensive things. When the Golf V came out, I bought it without thinking twice. And as you know, women will always be there, but my main problem was booze.”
“We used to finish training by 11 am, and thereafter, you are free to do whatever you want. We would go to Shisanyama after training and chill there over a few drinks, and it just became a habit,” Lerato Chabangu added.
In the backdrop of his woes, his wife left him in the eleventh hour. Lerato Chabangu has it that he hasn’t seen his children in years. He was topping trends in November after former Kaizer Chiefs legend Junior Khanye visited him. However, his visit received backlash after he shared Chabangu’s photos on social media. Many were not pleased with his gesture.
