Tips to clean utensils without dishwashing soap

Ran out of dishwashing soap and urgently need to wash utensils? Or want to avoid using harmful soap? With the below-given alternatives, you can easily clean your dishes without the usage of any kind of soap.
The ingredients used in these alternatives are easily available at home and can come in handy even at odd hours. You can opt for these natural substitutes and efficiently wipe away grease and odor from the dishes.

1. Baking soda
Wash the dishes with warm water and sprinkle baking soda on them. Let the soda bubble a bit and scrub using a sponge. If the plates are greasy, leave the baking soda on the dishes for 5-6 minutes. Once scrubbed well, wash the dishes again using warm water.

2. DIY cleaner
To make DIY utensil cleaner at home, you just need a handful of ingredients. Take 1 cup of hot water, add 2 tablespoons of salt to it along with juice of 1 whole lemon. Use a spoon to mix all the ingredients well. Pour this mixture into the dishes and scrub well. While salt helps in removing the food particles from the dishes, lemon gets rid of any kind of odor.

3. Wood ash
Wood ash is one of the oldest natural cleaners known to us. Even before the dishwashing soaps were invented, wood ash was widely used to clean utensils. It helps in cleaning utensils, gets rid of odor and even disinfects them. Wood ash can be directly sprinkled on the dishes and scrubbed using a sponge and warm water.

4. Rice water
The presence of starch and citric acid in rice water helps in getting rid of the grease easily. All you need to do is fill a bowl with rice water and soak the utensils in it for about 30 minutes. Later, scrub the utensils properly and wash under running warm water to get rid of the distinct smell of rice water.

5. Vinegar
Take a spray bottle, add 1 cup of water along with 4-5 tablespoons of vinegar. Shake the bottle well and spray all over the dishes. Let the dishes stay put for a few minutes and then scrub well using a sponge and warm water.

6. Soda-lemon
Add 3 tablespoons of baking soda to a bowl. Squeeze lemon juice into it. Add enough juice and mix well to prepare a slurry. Now just dip a sponge into the slurry and use it to wash the dishes. Soda lemon is a strong combination of removing both grease and smell from the utensils.
