The WWE Universe has benefited from the ongoing actors strike in Hollywood as wrestling icons the Rock and John Cena have been allowed to return to the squared circle. On Friday night the Rock returned to Smackdown, the show that he made famous to put Austin Theory in his place.
Meanwhile WWE, had previously announced the return of John Cena for a short run in the company with all filming of studio productions halted. The Rock delighted the crowd and dismantled Theory after appearing with another returnee, Pat McAfee. After the Rock’s appearance the red-hot crowd saw Finn Balor defeat AJ Styles with the help of his buddies in the Judgement Day.
The Street Profits and Bobby Lashley then interrupted a one-on-one between Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar of the LWO. The result was a tag match between the LWO’s Cruz Del Toro & Joaquin Wilde and the Profits.
In a hard-fought rematch, the outspoken LA Knight conquered the Miz with an earth-shattering B.F.T. Then, as the dust cleared, Knight picked up the mic and put every champion in WWE on notice.
As Bayley and Asuka faced off, Shotzi suddenly materialised from the audience, startling The Role Model. The Empress of Tomorrow was able to quickly win since the distraction completely knocked Bayley off her game.
It was a huge victory for Asuka going into the championship match against WWE Women’s Champion IYO SKY next week. Cena put a stop to Aussia Grayson Waller’s trashtalk in emphatic fashion.
AJ Styles also appeared to get one back on Jimmy Uso, who got involved. The Rock and John Cena shared a moment backstage before the latter went out for an appearance on the Grayson Waller Effect.
