State capture, not part of Cabinet’s Lekgotla meeting

State capture, not part of Cabinet’s Lekgotla meeting. The Cabinet Lekgotla is taking place at a time when the government is preparing for the State of the Nation Address (SONA), which will be delivered by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Unemployment and securing a foreign investment will be top of the discussion at the two day Cabinet Lekgotla that has been taking place at the Sefako Makgatho Presidential Guesthouse.

Minister of Communication, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams, gave the media a break down items of the agenda for the meetings.

She said the meeting was for the President, Deputy President David Mabuza and Ministers, Deputy Ministers and Directors General from government departments to meet and strategize on government’s priorities.

She said they will also look into the next coming State of The Nation Address.

“The Lekgotla will also look into the state of the country’s economy and the steps that need to be taken to ensure that government creates the necessary jobs and provides opportunities for the people in line with the changing world,” she said.

Ndabeni-Abrahams said the allegations on corruption brought forward in the PIC commission and the Zondo’s Commission will not be part of the Lekgotla.

“Government has a strong stance against corruption and will attend to the final report from the Zondo Commission of Inquiry into State Capture, once it has wrapped up its work,” she said.
