He handed in his resignation just hours before the ANC could table a motion of no confidence against him.

Msimanga has said he is stepping down from the mayoral position to focus on his role as the Democratic Alliance’s Gauteng premier candidate for the 2019 general elections.

The ANC in Tshwane said it wants Msimanga to leave office immediately and that the resignation letter submitted to the speaker was done in a speedy manner due to the motion of confidence that had been tabled against him.
