School children treated for gas exposure

At 09H44 Tuesday morning Netcare 911 responded to reports of gas inhalation at a primary school North of Durban.

Reports from the scene indicate that approximately fifteen children had suffered the affects of an unknown gas resulting in coughing with a burning and itchy upper airway.

The school children effected were removed to a safe, well ventilated area while medics assessed the patients. The Ethekwini Fire and Rescue Services were on scene to assess for any hazards.

Once treated the patients were transported via private transport as well as ambulance to hospital for further assessment.
