#SATMA2018 Awards to focus on promoting our heritage

On Friday, all roads led to the awards, to be held at the Mmabatho Convention Centre in the North West Province.  Although underfunded, the Satmas have injected R13 million into the North West economy, according to organizers.

Mahikeng – As Heritage month draws to a close, celebrations continue with the honouring of legends of traditional music and African culture at the South African Traditional Music Achievement (Satma) Awards.

Running in its 13th year, the Satmas use a different theme to ensure youth engagement and involvement.

Held under the theme: “Embracing your Heritage”, hundreds of South African traditional music lovers will be entertained by award-winning Musicians Sjava and Afro-pop group Mafikizolo.

In embracing heritage, his Majesty King Hinsta (of the Xhosa Kingdom), Ukhozi FM DJ Khathide Ngobe, Rex Rabanye, Sol Plaatje alongside three other legends from the North West province will also be honoured at the main event taking place on Saturday.
