SA COVID-19: 17 351 new cases and 520 deaths reported

The health department said 17,351 more COVID-19 cases have been reported.

It said 520 deaths have also been reported.

Infections increased significantly in a number of provinces in the last 24 hours.

The Western Cape’s reported infections have jumped from over 1,500 to 4,667.

The North West’s infections have increased to 1,278 while Mpumalanga’s Covid-19 cases have risen to over 1,248.

Gauteng’s infections have increased to 5,204.

Testing has been significantly higher, with over 71,000 tests conducted in the last reporting period.

Over 7 million vaccines have been administered.
