Royal Family decides King Goodwill Zwelithini will not lie in state

The AmaZulu royal family has decided that King Goodwill Zwelithini will not lie in state at the royal palace.

The family says this is line with the country’s COVID-19 protocols. They family says it would be unconscionable to allow His Majesty’s passing to become the cause of more deaths.

The Royal Family has appealed to mourners not to travel to KwaNongoma to pay their last respects.

President Cyril Ramaphosa declared a special official funeral for the King and will be broadcast live to allow the nation to honour Him from homes. The monarch passed on in the early hours of Friday morning. He was 72-year-old.
