No food shortage in Gauteng, says Premier Makhura

There is no food insecurity in Gauteng. That is an assurance from Premier David Makhura.

Makhura has been part of a clean-up campaign in Tembisa, following a week of unrest and looting of malls, factories, and warehouses in parts of Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.

“I was assured and deliveries have been taking place, facilities are open, I want to see that in Soweto and Ekurhuleni,” he said.

“And different areas and the impact on food security has been minimized.”

Makhura also says things have settled down in the province.

But people should remain vigilant.

“We are now alert 100 percent and this calm is important we cant allow economic sabotage,” he added.

Clean-up campaigns will continue in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal to ensure that the malls are revived to allow trade again.
