DA accuses Patricia De Lille of cover-up over Parliament fire

The DA is accusing Public Works Minister Patricia de Lille of covering up a damning 2020 audit report on Parliament.

It found that the building did not have adequate fire control measures.

According to the DA, the report was handed to De Lille in September 2021.

It said Parliament was not compliant with fire regulations, lacked site safety management and its ventilation system and fire protection needed a review.

The report also said the National Council of Province’s sprinkler system had not been operational for some time.

The DA says President Cyril Ramaphosa should dismiss De Lille immediately.
