The National Prosecuting Authority has appointed some of the country’s top legal minds to help deal with state capture related crimes.
The Justice Department has asked Tembeka Ngcukaitobi, Wim Trengove, Ngwako Maenetje and Geoff Budlender to help with the prosecution.
Former Deputy National Director of Public Prosecutions, Willie Hofmeyr, said the reasons for the delays given are astonishing.

“One of the biggest investigations again, in the same period of 2009-2012 and between the SIU essentially did that investigation and we gathered extensive evidence about what went wrong. The problem was, it seems, and it’s even been mentioned publicly, that certain people in the NPA seem to have been persuaded not to proceed with that case. Again, I think the question of accountability and who did or did not pursue that case, is a very serious one.
