Child hospitalised for non-fatal drowning

KwaZulu-Natal: At 14H47 Saturday afternoon Netcare 911 responded to reports of a drowning at a non-swimming beach in Umhlanga, North of Durban.

Reports from the scene indicate that a 4-year-old male who was playing near the shore break was pulled deeper into the water by a large wave.

Lifeguards responded to the scene who treated the child while waiting for the ambulance to arrive.

Child hospitalised for non-fatal drowning

The patient was assessed on the scene and found to be in a stable condition.

Once treated the child and a family member were transported by ambulance to the hospital for further treatment.
