Johannesburg will have a government in the next few days. Newly-elected mayor Mpho Phalatse says talks with parties are at an advanced stage.
She says her Mayoral Committee will be announced soon. It comes as the ANC criticises the delay, saying the DA is failing residents.
“The reason I have not announced a mayoral committee yet is because I want a mayoral committee that is reflective of the democratic era that we are in, I want it to be inclusive and so in those negotiations, we will also be discussing or have been discussing portfolios that have been offered to other parties so that we have a multi-party mayoral committee as well,” she said.
Those discussions are nearing a close, I do believe in the next few days I will be able to announce a mayoral committee and put together a swearing-in ceremony
