Mzansi TV shows that kept us glued to our screens. Let’s all agree, we love watching our soapies and we just can’t get enough of them especially our own storytelling TV shows. We just couldn’t breathe without catching a glimpse.

The television space has seen quite a few changes in various aspects including casting of new faces, new story angles and of course, new shows.

One can’t ignore the tremendous amount of hype that some of these new shows have had. These select few shows have taken the world of TV by storm. Not only was the content refreshing, but the casting also gave the viewers something to also marvel at.

New kid on the block channel, Moja Love TV, presented a tongue wagging show called, Umndeni. The content of the show caused a bit of controversy as it is uncommon to have a show on national television that delves into the complexities of a family run by a patriarchal homos.e.xual.

Internationally acclaimed actress, Pearl Thusi, was appointed as host of this sizzling show on MTV Base. Numerous guests on the show trended across social media platforms as they set the record straight, sharing their side of the story.

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) said on Tuesday that they were delighted with the performance of one of its flagship television programmes Uzalo which recently became the most watched programme in South African history.

The public broadcaster says it is confident that the programme is in line with its strategy of growing audiences. Group executive for television Nomsa Philiso said: “The partnership with Stained Glass Productions is one that keeps exceeding all expectations.
