Police are investigating a case of attempted murder after a video showing a motorist driving over a man at a shopping centre in Stellenbosch went viral on social media.
According to a statement from the Western Cape police, the security officer was directing the motorist when the incident occurred.
“He directed the vehicle that was driving in the wrong direction to turn around. The driver bumped him to the ground and drove over him. A case of attempted murder was opened and is under investigation”, read the statement.
The security officer was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment and is recovering.
