KZN paramedic rescues puppy from drain

Used to treating life-threatening injuries and illnesses, Advanced Life Support paramedic Emma Westcott was not expecting to conduct a rescue of this kind on Thursday.

She was called to Newlands West, KwaZulu-Natal, where residents reported hearing a baby crying in a drain.

With the help of colleagues, Watson climbed into the drain to assess the infant’s injuries only to find a puppy.

The puppy was brought up to the surface and has been taken by the SPCA for treatment.
