Jacob Zuma in high Demand following his Record Deal

We saw a lot of unexpected personalities venturing into the music industry last year and if you were stunned by Boity Thulo embarking on her rap journey then you might not be ready for 2019.

We’ve caught a glimpse of Jacob Zuma’s talent and love for entertaining in parliament at various political events when he had his ‘Umshini Wami’ moments while campaigning for his political party, the entertainment bug has seemingly stuck with him, we’re going to be seeing and hearing more of him, possibly on stage and on our radio airwaves.

Zuma is set to be recording his favourite struggle songs during the course of this year after he signed a deal with Ethekwini municipality’s department of parks, recreation and culture.

Head of parks, recreation and culture at the municipality, Thembinkosi Ngcobo, made the announcement on the 30th of December 2018 and says that he has been flooded with many requests to work with the former president, even our Grammy award-winning group, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, is showing interest.

“Since we made an announcement, there are a number of musicians that have sent messages, others have called directly to say: ‘Can I please be part of this project, I’ve always wanted to have or to do something with the former president.’

As I’m talking to you now…Ladysmith Black Mambazo – who we had in our original plans…have just called to say: ‘We want to make our contribution for free…our studios are available to be used…” Ngcobo said, speaking to eNCA.

Meanwhile as  it is election season, the DA have even gone as far as saying that they will fight “tooth and nail” against Zuma’s musical collaboration with the City’s Parks, Recreation and Culture Unit as they believe that this was just another way to finance his lifestyle.

“This record deal is blatant patronage, where the people’s money will be used to finance the former president’s lifestyle,” DA councillor Nicole Graham said, speaking to Channel24

Would you purchase a Jacob Zuma album or attend to his concerts if he were to ever tour as a musician?
