Husband, wife and 4 Kids staying in a Bakkie

46-year-old Tinyiko Macuacua, her husband Moses and their four kids have turned their bakkie into a house. Since Friday, the family have been staying in the car outside the home they claim belongs to them.

The family were waiting for the occupant to move out, but he said he bought the house legally. Tinyiko Macuacua said they were thrown out of their house in Clayville, Ekurhuleni, in 2010 by a group of men who said they had bought the house.

She said they had been renting all along, and it was time to move back into their home. She said she bought the four-roomed house in 2004 for R140 000 and finished paying the bond in 2008.

The letter Daily Sun has seen states the bond was cancelled in 2008, but Tinyiko said: “The bank confirmed the house is in my name. The man claims he bought it from an estate agent, but I never sold it.”

The new owner, who refused to give his name, said he bought the house in 2011 for R365 000 from an estate agent. “I’m also a victim of fraud. They need to be patient so the law can take its course,” said the man.

Tinyiko and the man said they had opened cases. Olifantsfontein cops spokeswoman Constable Phendulwa Skoti urged them to come to the police station.
