Half-time: Egypt 0-0 Uruguay. An unscrupulous man would suggest Uruguay should kick someone to wake themselves up. There’ll certainly be angry words exchanged during the interval because the South American haven’t been oddly subdued. Some credit for that must go to Egypt, who has been dynamic and well organised. Cuper do not look capable of winning simply because they have been blunt up front: but they do have Salah on the bench.
From the looks of things so far Egypt is holding up nicely and if they continue like they may find a goal and win the match. Uruguay, on the other hand, had a clear chance that Luis Suarez failed to convert.
An outswinging corner from the right runs all the way over to Suarez, who tries to sweep it into the net from six yards. He finds the net all right and the Uruguayan fans rejoice … not realising it was the side-netting! Suarez holds his mouth to stifle a naughty word. That was a bad miss: for the second time in the game, he did not connect cleanly with a shot.
Let’s wait and see how the second half will fare out.
