HT Croatia 1 – 1 Denmark #WorldCup

Half-time: Croatia 1-1 Denmark What a start for Denmark! A long throw-in into the box is not cleared at all. It pings around with Delaney looking to get on to it. The ball falls to Jorgenson who takes a quick shot from close range. The ball strikes goalkeeper Subasic and goes in.

WELL!! Croatia equalise! A couple of poor defensive clearances cost Denmark here. Rebic gets on the end of one down the right flank before playing in Vrsaljko who gets into the box but sees a defender thump a clearance against his teammate and the ricochet falls to Mandzukic who slots home. Terrific start to the game!

Mandzukic goes down under pressure in the box as Strinic sends in a cross from the left. He screams for a penalty. Nothing doing, says the ref.

Denmark gets on the ball for a change and Eriksen slips a through ball into the box for Brathwaite who slides in and diverts a shot towards goal. But Subasic advances to snuff that out.

Croatia responds with a couple of fierce shots from Rakitic and Rebic that force saves from Schmeichel. Perisic gets a chance to knock in the rebound but he blazes over. An engaging first half of football sees Croatia and Denmark share the spoils. After two early scrappy goals, both sides have settled down. Though Croatia did threaten a bit more, Denmark was not way off with their forays.

Well, the last 41 minutes didn’t quite live up to the first four, but they never had a chance to I suppose.
