Fifa World Cup - Russia 2018

HT Argentina 0 – 0 Croatia #WorldCup

HALFTIME: Argentina 0-0 Croatia It’s goalless but very intriguing. Both teams should have scored; both teams could easily have had a man sent off. Messi has done nothing. The second half promises to be quite the event.

First chance for Croatia. Rakitic picked out an overlapping Vrsaljko on the right wing whose cutback for Mandzukic was just about cut out by Tagliafico.

Chance at the other end! Messi plays Salvio through to the byline. He goes on to pick out Meza with a square pass but his first-time shot is blocked out by Lovren.

Argentina vs Croatia

ALMOST! Chances at both ends. First Enzo Perez drags a shot wide with the goal gaping after Croatia gave the ball away cheaply in their defensive third.

Then Vrsaljko delivers a wonderful cross from the right flank to pick out Mandzukic who is in behind the defence. With just the keeper to beat, the Croatian messed up a simple header, sending it wide.

Towards the end of the half, Croatia should have taken the lead. Modric sent Rebic through with a sensational ball but the Croatian blazed an effort over instead of picking out Perisic who had made a run alongside him.

At any rate, the half finishes goalless but the most noticeable facet of the game has been that Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero have rarely enjoyed time on the ball. Both midfields have largely cancelled each other out.
