
The Department of Home Affairs has extended its operating hours to 7pm from Thursday until 10 January to meet increased demand before schools reopen.
At the beginning of each year, the department experiences a rush of applications for smart ID cards and passports, as well as birth and death certificates.
Everyone inside an office at the time of closing will be assisted. The extension of operating hours excludes weekends when offices will be closed.
