A Cape Town woman has shared video footage of her shocking experience during an Uber ride by a driver who not only physically assaulted her, but verbally harassed her.
The clip was shared by a female social media influencer who is known only as “Tsholo”.
On Instagram, Tsholo shared the clip on Wednesday 8 June, of her Uber ride which ended in a physical altercation. In the clip, the angry driver is seen taking a swipe at the woman recording him.
Explaining how it came to pass, the woman claimed that she and a friend requested an Uber ride, only to discover that their payment option was set on cash, which they did not have on hand. The two friends then asked the driver if he could accommodate them by allowing them to withdraw the cash at their destination or using the credit already on their account.
But the driver became irate at the suggestion, claims Tsholo. She shared: “The driver immediately got very furious. He just lost it and said we are ‘children’ and we shouldn’t tell him what to do. This driver was busy shouting at us and threatening to hit us when I took a video. He eventually attacked us”.
She added: “These drivers continue to insult and assault women …This kind of behaviour is unacceptable.”
Tsholo’s post blew up and a number of celebs expressed their disgust, including Kat Ncala and Anele Mdoda.
