Former President Jacob Zuma’s corruption trial to finally proceed

The Constitutional Court has dismissed French arms company Thales’ last bid to halt prosecution against former president Jacob Zuma. Zuma withdrew his leave to appeal with the Constitutional Court.

Thales was attempting to halt state prosecution against Zuma from going ahead for allegedly unlawfully accepting millions of rand from the controversial arms deal.

The Constitutional Court found that the appeal should be dismissed with costs because “it lacks reasonable prospects of success”.
