The Western Cape has kicked off its winter fire season campaigns.
An extra 12,000 smoke alarms are being installed in informal settlements around the province.
Last year, Cape Town recorded nearly 2,200 fires in informal settlements.
Meanwhile, informal settlement residents in Langa say they’re still waiting for promises made after last month’s big shack fire.
