
Eskom says while the system remains constrained, it does not foresee any incidents that could lead it to implement rolling blackouts during election week.
The power utility says it’s keeping a close eye on the grid to ensure no interruptions impact the polls. Eskom said power cuts will be suspended on Friday night at 8pm.
It said units that broke down and led to Stage 4 blackouts have been repaired. The power utility’s Chief Operating Officer, Jan Oberholzer, gave a status report following rolling blackouts. Next week we are very positive we’ll not implement load-shedding,” he said.
“We are running with some risk units but we have requested our colleagues at the power stations to be on high alert to make sure we have elections with electricity
