Dbn Nyts member Cebo Ngcobo sick & tired of fights, leaves the group

Former Dbn Nyts member Cebo Ngcobo has had it up to his neck with the treatment he’s getting from “arrogant” bandmates Wandile “Choco” Tshabalala and Kabelo “Kaybee” Masenjane.

Cebo (33) said he was pulling the plug on “being controlled and disrespected” by other members.

He has stopped attending meetings and wouldn’t be bothered to show up for any of the gigs they have lined up in the new year.

“I don’t know what happened but we’ve completely lost respect for one another and for our music,” he said.

“The guys are always late for gigs. They want things to go their way and if we disagree there’s a huge argument that jeopardises the work.

“We even fight in studio sessions where we’re meant to be productive.”

On many occasions, Cebo has had to run with ideas he disagreed on because of “majority rules”.

“If the other two agree on something, my ideas get thrown out of the window, which is what happens in most cases.

“I’m done. Ngi grand.”

Cebo said things became bad when his car was repossessed.

“I lost my car last year and became a joke of the group.

“That hurt me because we come from different families and I have more financial responsibilities.

“But they saw my loss as a joke and mocked me for using taxis. But the main reason for leaving was when we lost respect for the music and each other. This year I want to go my separate way and start afresh with my career.”

Dbn Nyts Initially debuted with five members. The Kwaito quintet lost two members who were also gatvol in 2017.

“Soozan and Lwazi left after our contract with Kalawa Jazmee had finished and they went back home to Durban while we stayed in Joburg,” says Cebo.

“My time has also come. Maybe with just Choco and Kaybee alone, the group will do better. But I’m not worried, I will see them at the top,” he adds.

Choco said it was the first time he heard about the split.

“Yoh,” he laughed.

“No problem. He can go well.”

Cebo said he has since partnered with Charlie Communications to release his single, Lova Gijima, featuring Tik Tok.

Last month, Sunday Sun reported that Choco was going solo.
