SAD: 12-year-old Girl dies on the scene in a car crash

Ladysmith police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a 12-year-old girl died in a car crash.

The young girl died after the car she was travelling in hit kudus that were crossing the road on the N3 between Tugela plaza and Bergville off-ramp on Saturday night, 31 July.

The girl who was a passenger died instantly while the driver was rushed to hospital.

According to KZN police spokeswoman Colonel Nqobile Gwala, three vehicles and a truck were involved a collision on N3 freeway southbound.

“A 12-year-old girl died at the scene. The kudus that were on the road also died. The circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated,” she said.

Gwala said that a case of culpable homicide was being investigated by Ladysmith police.

Meanwhile, five people were injured in a taxi collision in Trenance Park, Durban on Saturday.

Reaction Unit South Africa spokesman Prem Balram said five passengers suffered minor injuries when a taxi collided with a light motor vehicle on Inanda Road.

“First responders arrived on the scene and found a red Toyota super T taxi on its side after colliding with a blue Toyota Camry,” said Balram.
