92-year-old gogo killed and eaten by the grandson. According to neighbours, the 92-year-old gogo was stabbed to death, allegedly by her grandson (40).
Residents of KwaDambuza in Pietermaritzburg were shocked by the brutal stabbing of a gogo yesterday. She was found lying in a pool of blood while the suspect ate her body parts.
“I have never seen such a thing in my life. A group of residents and I rushed to the scene after we heard the gogo’s great-grandchildren screaming for help,” said a neighbour.
She said the great-grandchildren told them a family member had stabbed their gogo. Another neighbour claimed one of the family members asked to see first hand that the man was cutting off the gogo’s body parts and eating them.
“When we got closer the suspect was sitting right next to the gogo’s body. There was a knife in her chest while he was chewing some of her body,” said the neighbour.
The neighbour claimed the man once suffered from a mental illness, but appeared to have been cured. The man’s sister asked the family to be given time to mourn.
Police spokeswoman Colonel Thembeka Mbele said: “A case of murder is being investigated. “A 92-year-old woman was allegedly at her house in KwaDambuza area yesterday when a known suspect stabbed her.
“She sustained multiple stab wounds and was declared dead at the scene. “A 40-year-old suspect was assaulted by residents. He was taken to a hospital, where he is under police guard. “I can confirm that the suspect cut off skin from the gogo’s chest and ate it.”
