12-year-old drowns in public swimming pool

KwaZulu-Natal: At 13H10 Monday afternoon Netcare 911 responded to reports of a drowning at a public swimming pool in Cills Crescent, Sydenham Durban.

Reports from the scene indicate that a 12-year-old male was found unresponsive in the pool.

The patient was pulled out the water by Lifeguards who started CPR after noticing the patient was unresponsive and not breathing.

A Netcare 911 Emergency Care Practitioner arrived on scene and initiated a full advanced life support resuscitation.

Despite best efforts by the medics the patients condition rapidly deteriorated and was sadly declared deceased on the scene.

Circumstances leading up to the drowning will be investigated by relevant authorities.
