Miss SA returns home to educate young people on Youth Day

Newly-crowned Miss South Africa, Tamaryn Green visited her alma mater in Paarl on Friday to bring the message of Youth Day to pupils there.

Green, a medical student, says education played a huge role in her successes.

She was head girl at the New Orleans Secondary School in Paarl in 2012 and also the school’s top academic achiever.

According to Green: “We all know the history or most of us know the history of what happened on June 16… Tthe protest that happened and the learners and students that stood up for what was right and to correct the inequality… Now we have a responsibility to use that freedom that they fought for, for to overcome our own challenges.”
