Protest halt TT Mbha’s youth day event
Thato “TT” Mbha’s golf day with purpose has been postponed.
This comes after chaos erupted as residents protested outside the Soweto Country Club in Pimville, where the event was supposed to be held on Wednesday 16 June.
The property mogul and reality TV star said for the safety of all the guests and the organisers, the event has been moved to another day and the new date will be communicated soon.
“It is with great disappointment that we have to pull the plug on such a well-organised day of commemoration. We have sponsors, individuals and media who invested their time, resources and money in the golf day. But we value people’s lives and cannot put anyone at risk,” he said.
He said the food and the blankets have already been distributed to six NPOs in Pimville, Kliptown and Klipspruit.
TT said he wanted the day to be just about golf and the youth interacting with their role models.
Celebrities such as Tbo Touch, Andile Ncube and Thomas Mlambo were confirmed to be attending.
When he previously spoke to Daily Sun about the event, TT said it was close to his heart.
