KwaZulu-Natal: At 10H24 Sunday morning Netcare 911 responded to a falls at the Kloof Gorge Waterfall, West of Durban.
Reports from the scene indicate that a 52-year-old female had lost her footing and had fallen approximately four meters onto the rocks below.
A multidisciplinary team consisting of Netcare 911, Rescue Tech, Ezemvelo Wildlife rangers, Metro Police SAR, Tracbox/SACAN, START, Ethekwini Fire, and Rescue, as well as the Specialised Rescue unit, had set out on a long hike down to where the patient was located.
Once on scene the patient was found to have sustained serious injuries and was treated on scene by a Netcare 911 Emergency Care Practitioner.
Once stabilized the patient was carried by the team of rescuers using a specialized stretcher and a rope rescue system to ascend the steep uphill.
The mission to bring the patient to a rendezvous point took just under four hours.
The patient was then loaded into an awaiting Netcare 911 helicopter ambulance that flew the patient to a specialist facility.
