Health Minister Zweli Mkhize is sounding the alarm about rising coronavirus infections. He’s concerned about a 9 per cent increase countrywide in the last week.
Of particular concern, is the Western Cape. There, new infections have grown 42 percent in seven days.
Mkhize says the spike appears mostly to be linked to a super-spreader event at a bar.
All provinces are urged to watch their numbers and quickly ensure contact tracing and quarantine. Mkhize says he himself is recovering well from COVID-19 and his wife is home from hospital.
