Western Cape pupils won’t be returning to school next week

The Western Cape Education Department says pupils won’t be returning to school next week. This follows a briefing by the department of basic Education of tentative dates for the reopening of schools across the country. The provincial department says the dates are not definite and don’t constitute an official announcement.

Amended school calendar

Provincial officials say the briefing, made to parliament’s basic education portfolio committee has caused confusion and anxiety for schools, teachers and parents. Basic Education Minister Angie Motshega’s expected to make an official announcement on Thursday.
