KZN premier Sihle Zikalala issues apology over water tanker misunderstanding

KwaZulu-Natal premier Sihle Zikalala and people in his neighbourhood have made peace after what they say was a miscommunication over a water tanker that went to the premier’s house.

The premier has met with the La Mercy ratepayers’ association and issued an apology.

In a viral video, a tanker was seen delivering water to him after the deadly floods in the province.

Zikalala says no community members were left high and dry while the tanker went to his house.

But some people claim they were prevented from getting water and told it was for the premier only.

The ratepayers’ association has also apologised.

La Mercy Ratepayers and Civic Association chair Ravi Ramsundar said: “We’ve met with premier. We tended apology, he accepted and also conveyed his apology due to misunderstanding.

“We’ve now got a joint relationship with his office to assist storm-ravaged areas.”
