Stage 2 water supply restrictions for Joburg

Johannesburg Water has implemented stage 2 water restrictions.

It is concerned residents are using too much water as a result of the recent heatwaves and little rain in the city.

“Rand Water, which is our bulk water supplier has implemented “stage 2 water supply restriction” in the City of Johannesburg mainly due to high demand and consumption,” said the City of Johannesburg MMC for Environment and Infrastructure Services, Cllr Nico de Jager.

Johannesburg Water said water demand was high in Midrand, Jhb central, Soweto, Lenasia, Ennerdale and Orange Farm.

The water supplier is urging consumers to use water sparingly.

“Johannesburg Water is regulating reservoirs at the rate of 20% to 40% in line with restrictions by Rand Water. We need all hands on deck to ensure that we reduce consumption in order to protect the infrastructure,” De Jager.
