There could still be survivors trapped in the disused No.5 shaft of a Virginia mine in the Free State.
Mineral Resources and Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe says some movement has been detected, which means there could be more miners underground, than the 31 reported so far.
It was revealed last week that a gas explosion at the mine could have led to the death of at least 31 illegal miners, with fears that the number of fatalities could rise.
