President Cyril Ramaphosa says that if the country can vaccinate 250,000 people every single day, the 17-million target can be reached by the end of the year.
This may be an ambitious target as our vaccine uptake is currently at about 100,000 per day. Ramaphosa said, “because I put a higher target, they’ll be trying everything to get close to it.
“Sometimes they hit 250,000, 260,000, 270,000, and I’m waiting for them to hit 300,000. I have a big reward for them to hit 300,000.
We believe that we now need to vaccinate 17-million people between now and the end of the year and we believe that it is imminently doable and all we need to do is to do 250,000 every single workday, including the Vooma vaccination weekends to get to that number.”
